What do I need to do before my procedure?

You must make arrangements for a responsible adult to take you home and to stay with you for several hours after the procedure. We will need to verify this information in person or by phone before your procedure begins. You will not be allowed to drive yourself home. If you don’t have a ride, the procedure may be canceled. You cannot use public transportation (i.e buses, taxi, etc.). If you do not receive any sedation, you may drive yourself. Please check with your physician. You will receive specific instructions for the procedure you are having.

These instructions are important for your safety. If you do not follow these instructions, your procedure may be canceled.

You will be allowed to take any daily medications that you are on for your heart, high blood pressure, breathing problems or seizures. Please take these with a sip of water only. If you have diabetes and take insulin, take only half of your usual dosage and bring something to eat for after the procedure. Do not take any blood thinners, aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications (Motrin, Advil, Naprosyn, Feldene, Ibuprofen, etc.) for three (3) days prior to procedure. Tylenol is permitted. Please notify us if you are taking any blood thinners such as Coumadin or Plavix. If you are unable to stop any of the above medications for any reason please notify the physician. It is very important that we know exactly what medications you are taking before your procedure to prevent the need for canceling appointments due to safety concerns.

On the day of your procedure wear loose fitting clothing that is easy to put on. Leave your valuables at home. If you wear contacts, wear your glasses instead.
