Nausea:
The feeling of wishing to throw up.

Necrosis:
A term indicating dead tissue.

Necrotizing Enterocolitis:
The condition in which part of the intestines is destroyed or becomes severely depleted of oxygen. This is usually a condition in underweight newborn babies.

Neoplasm:
A new but abnormal growth of tissue. It may or may not indicate cancer.

Nissan fundoplication:
A surgical operation used to correct GERD. In this operation the top of the stomach is wrapped around the lower esophagus. By performing this operation, many patients can be off all medications. This operation re-establishes the normal function of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).

Nonulcer dyspepsia (NUD):
A constant pain or discomfort of the upper GI tract. The symptoms are dyspeptic (acid like) nature. In most cases, H2 receptor antagonist or proton pump inhibitor inhibitors will be useful for this disease.

Norwalk virus:
A virus which causes GI infection in diarrhea.
